Team Placed Fifth at "Yellowjacket" Invitational Tournament at the University of Rochester
The Buffalo State team successfully competed against other regional schools on November 15th -16th, 2014. At the University of Rochester, the team had an impressive record of 5 wins, 1 loss, and 2 ties. The team defeated Case Western University’s B team and Swarthmore College. The team tied both judges against the University of Miami, and won one judge at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Marco Santiago received two honorable mentions, ranking 17 out of 20 possible points, for his roles as an attorney serving on each side of the case. The team placed 5th out of 22 teams, winning a trophy as a token of their success.
Buffalo State Placed Fourth at St. Bonaventure University's "Friar Faceoff" Invitational
The Buffalo State team competed at St. Bonaventure University against other regional schools on November 8th - 9th, 2014. The team concluded the weekend with a successful 5-3 record, defeating Indiana University and Colgate University, and winning one of two judges against Seton Hall University. Team captain, Marco Santiago, won a top attorney award and team member, Laurin Ellis, won a top witness award. The students will continue honing their performance for the next invitational at the University of Rochester. The team placed 4th out of 16 schools.
Team Meetings fall 2014:
The team will hold their meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm - 9pm in Classroom C116 in the Classroom Building. All interested students are welcome!

The 2014 - 2015 mock trial season consists of a civil case involving a wrongful death suit, which is the result of a shooting:
"In 2010, Sydney Park invited classmate Jesse Duran to hang out at the Parks’ home. Both children were 11 years old. The Parks keep a gun in their home. That morning, the gun was discharged, killing one of the children. The victim's parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the shooter's parents.

Most Successful Year Yet for Mock Trial Team
Not only did Buffalo State advance to Washington, D.C., for ORCS, but one of the lead attorneys, Marco Santiago, a senior majoring in political science, received a “best attorney” award at each of the four competitions he attended. Well done, everyone!

Congratulations to Buffalo State for winning the St. Bonaventure University "Friar Faceoff" Invitational Tournament on November 16th - 17th!
Buffalo State sent two teams to the invitational tournament at St. Bonaventure University. Our A Team were the champions of the entire weekend, with a winning record of 7-1, ending with the best win-loss record since the team began seven years ago. Five students on both teams won awards including Best Attorney Awards to Kate Marinelli and Marco Santiago, and Best Witness Awards to Alexis Childs, Cynthia Duncan, and Michelle Imafidon. This is the highest number of awards that Buffalo State has received in the history of the program! During the rounds, Buffalo State defeated Canisius College, Binghamton University, and Michigan State University.
Congratulations to the Buffalo State Mock Trial Team which competed in the "Yellowjacket" Invitational Tournament at the University of Rochester!
The team defeated both St. John Fisher College and the University of Rochester. Additionally, team attorney and Buffalo State junior, Marco Santiago, won a best attorney award with a near perfect score of 19 out of 20 possible points.

Congratulations to Buffalo State's own, Safia Hosein, who was one of just a handful of students at the well-attended St. Bonaventure invitational tournament to win a top witness award. She put on a superior performance and worked diligently to get the much deserved award. Congratulations, Safia!
